I have to say that I was not expecting the kind of day I had at the first Chicago Ideas Week (CIW). While I know I would not have invested as much as I have into an event I did not believe in (Microsoft is a Founding Sponsor of CIW), I had no idea that the first day would blow me away as much as it did today.
My day started off at the Social Entrepreneurship talk at the Museum of Contemporary Art and it was an amazing start to my week. While I have heard many of the speakers before, they all seemed fresh and new from the last time I heard them. From Dave Gilboa of Warby Parker to Leila Janah of Samasource. And Scott Harrison of charity: water always makes me want to help dig some wells to get billions of people something I take for granted (guess what I want for my 38th birthday?). I will also have to post my Dear World photo once Robert Fogarty sends it over to me.
I talk to a lot of startups about technology, innovation, investment, etc., but now I think I need to add social entrepreneurship to that list. Check out some of the photos from today’s talk.
