heading out to the design4mobile conference and it seems I am the only one awake on the train.
i find myself explaining over and over to people what i do so i decided to reflect a little bit and try to even figure that out for myself. some days it feels like i wear many different hats, but at the end of the day it is all about one thing.
this is not going to be one of those posts that talk about the 10 gadgets that defined a decade or the best tech triumph of 2009 but a peak into what i have been a part of this year and what i am looking forward to next.
i really don’t like christmas. i am sort of a bah humbug. i am not into running around to store after store spending entirely too much money on gifts that most will only use once or twice. however, the holidays do give me time to spend with my family and friends which is what i do love about this time. i am taking the rest of the month and year off and decompressing to start the new calendar year with a whole new me. healthier in many ways.
i urge you to take the time and reflect on your accomplishments and disappointments this year and what you are going to be committed to next year. i turn yet another year older on new year’s eve and i am still trying to figure out what i am going to be when i grow up. i guess the journey never ends.
since i have been gushing about flashpoint academy lately, i figured i would post an interview they did with me after the talk i did for the students. as you can tell, i am pretty passionate about the innovation that flashpoint is bringing to students and how they are really revolutionizing higher education.
the past couple years have been a bit crazy. i really jumped completely in my work and allowed it to consume me. while that was a great thing for my contributions to my employer, microsoft, i realized a few weeks back that everything else in my life was starting to suffer.
i will begin streaming live from the microsoft campus building 33 today (8/30) at around 7pm pst to catch all the startups pitch and finally announce the winners at the bizspark startup weekend in redmond.
being from cleveland, i sometimes forget the great local talent the city has. one is a columnist for the city paper, the plain dealer, regina brett. here is one of her most popular articles originally written when she turned 50 in 2006.
